Business and Professional Women (BPW) Bowmanville

Who We Are

Business and Professional Women (BPW) Bowmanville is a not-for-profit organization that encourages women in business, professions and the broader community to join together to improve the status and promote the interests of women. Membership in our club includes membership in the provincial, national and international organizations. We extend an enhanced awareness of issues, interests and practices that affect women at Municipal, Provincial, National and International levels.

BPW Bowmanville was chartered in 1950 and locally has expanded to include members from Clarington, Peterborough,  Coburg, Durham and beyond. Our charter membership with BPW Ontario, BPW Canada and BPW International gives us a connection and voice across our province, country and internationally in more than 100 countries. BPW International has held a Category 1 Consultative Status at the United Nations since 1947.

As members of BPW Ontario, we acknowlege and support the following:

In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, BPW Ontario members acknowledge that we gather on traditional lands of the Haudensaunee, Ojibway/Chippewa, Anishnabek, Anishinaabeg, Attawandaron, Wendat, Huron-Wendat, Mississauga’s of the New Credit, Atikameksheng Anishinaabeg, Métis, and Inuit peoples.  We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Indigenous peoples who continue to live in these lands, to create a safer and more abundant future for all women and girls.

BPW Ontario welcomes all people who identify as women, regardless of race, religion, age, nationality, citizenship, geographic location, ability, marital status, socio-economic status, education, sexual orientation, or gender identity, and is committed to providing an inclusive, welcoming, and empowering environment for all members.

Our Mandate

To empower women to lead and participate in making a positive change in the workplace, marketplace, government and community.

BPW is committed to building stable societies and strong communities for women, men and their families. We promote a just and equal status at all levels and areas of society where decisions are made in true partnership with men, based on mutual respect and a shared commitment for a more prosperous, balanced and peaceful world.

Our Goal

The improvement of economic, political, social and employment conditions for women in Canada. We work to educate, promote and empower women in our local community, throughout the province of Ontario, across Canada and around the world. Empowering women is good for business and good for our community.
